We left a bit later than planned, after a cool night assisted everyone to sleep in. Amanda took the first leg to Coonabarabran. The Pilliga Nature Reserve broke up a boring drive. We changed drivers at Coonabarabran and Les drove to Gilgandra. We had a pit stop at Gilgandra (very clean toilets) and a quick look around Main Street - it was very tidy & nice. Amanda then took the last leg onto Dubbo. We quickly got set up on a drive through site at the Westview Caravan Park. We headed off to the Zoo. We picked up our tickets, Ryan forgot his ID - trying to explain that the large 6 foot 4 inch, hairy "pain-in-the-arse" teenager, was only 14 was difficult. Ryan was sent back to the car to get his ID. Les now wishes he parked the car further away! The lady behind the counter was very understanding, she had boys of her own that are very similar to Ryan. We drove round the 6km circuit to get a quick look at the Zoo - we stopped and looked at Giraffes, Hippopotamuses (lucky to see "Happy" being fed at this time of the day.) We left and headed to Town. A lot bigger than what Les remembers from 1987. Stocked up at Coles and back to the caravan park. The facilities are very clean & tidy here. We are looking forward to a more detailed visit to the Zoo tomorrow.
