Day 24: School Day at Big Horse Creek Campground Gregory National Park.

Wednesday 18/07/2012 Day 24: School Day at Big Horse Creek Campground Gregory National Park.

Ryan completed Maths, English & History Lessons. Amy completed Maths & English Lessons. The kids tried fossicking around the campsite. They found an old bonnet holder, fence pegs, cans and lots of bottle caps. The long drop isn’t as smelly today. The kids took 10 minutes to wash the red dirt out of their feet. Thongs are now banned until their feet return to a normal colour. We had a great time using google sky on the tablet. We could see Saturn & Mars. Amy found the southern cross by herself and we found the Leo Constellations. We had a restless night – the wallabies are now wearing steel capped gumboots.

  1. Love looking at your blog. Sound like you are having a great time. Wonderful pics!

Fantastic you found leo. Try looking for scorpio; it will be in the north west sky around 8pm at this time of year. There is a bright red star at what would be the heart of a scorpian call Anteres (a super red gaint)~900 times larger than our suns. The aboriginal people saw an emu rather than a scorpian in this group of stars. If you find scorpio you are looking at the centre of our galaxy. You may notice the large bulge in the milky way around scorio. If you brought a pair of binoculars with you try looking at the night sky through these - you will be surprised what you can see!

    I'm still very vealous!!!
    God Bless
