We got up early and drove out to
Lake Argyle. We visited the Durack Homestead which had been relocated brick by
brick. The gravestones and memorabilia was very interesting and worth the $10
entry fee. We drove across the dam wall down to the spill way and looked across
to the Hydro Plant across the river. The Lake is huge. It was very windy. We
drove back to Kununurra loaded up with food and headed off to wild Wyndham.
Ryan & Les fished off the same pier as Julia PM did on Wednesday
(18/07/2012). She made the papers but we caught more fish than she did. 2
catfish, 1 jewfish and nearly a Mudcrab. Amanda and Amy visited the large
crocodile and the museum. We then headed back to Kununurra topped up fuel at
the BP(Caltex) at 1.799 & tucker at Coles in readiness to get across to
Broome. Heard tonight that fuel at Halls Creek is 10cents a litre cheaper than
here- bummer. School Holidays in WA is finished today so only grey nomads to
contend with at the free sites.
