It was cold overnight 5 0
C at 06:00. Ryan’s Bull came back through the night looking for him. We got up
early and headed with a cross wind towards Halls Creek. We queued up for Diesel
at Halls Creek and moved on. The stretch of road between Halls Creek and
Fitzroy Crossing is lots of boring nothing a slight bend, very long straight,
then repeat for 200km. After we headed West we had a favourable tail-wind. We
arrived at Fitzroy River and managed to get a place at the Fitzroy River Lodge.
There was a mix up with our site allocation – someone else was already there.
Ryan & I headed back to Reception and sorted it out with another site
allocated to us. We set up and then headed off to the Geike Gorge. We completed
the 4.4km Reef Walk (in river sand). It was like walking along a beach. The
view at the end was worth it. We completed the walk in 1hr30min. The kids tried
the pool but it was freezing. Hot Showers, dinner and off to Bed. We are better
prepared tonight – winter woollies are out of storage (bins in the car) ready
for a cool night.
